With the continuing efforts to reduce Thailand’s software copyright violations, Thai police raided companies in Bangkok, Samutprakan, Pathum Thani, Chonburi and Nakhon Ratchasima for installing and using unlicensed software.
In January 2019, raids were focused on business organizations in Bangkok, Samutprakarn, Pathumthani, Chonburi and Nakhon Ratchasima.
275 PCs, THB 16 Million
According to Police, the raids in January 2019 found unlicensed software worth over THB 16 million on 275 PCs. Most of unlicensed copies found include computer aided design and manufacturing software.
Found in one interior and graphic design company is unlicensed software worth over THB 4 million on 9 computers. One restaurant company installed and used unlicensed software worth over THB 2.34 million on 103 PCs, while police raided one design and packaging company, finding 97 PCs with unlicensed software worth over THB 3.39 million.
In 2019, the number of PCs found with unlicensed software is almost the same as the number of PCs in 2018, indicting the persistent use of unlicensed software.
